Refugee Resettlement and Acculturation

Our Refugee Resettlement and Acculturation Program helps new refugee families become part of the Greenwich community and connects them with their Jewish heritage and traditions.  Since 1993, we have resettled 35 families and are providing ongoing acculturation and immigration services to over 175 people.  Services include:  case management, language training, counseling, vocational guidance, and advocacy.

We also provide immigration citizenship services.  JFS is available to help any immigrant or refugee fill out and file the appropriate immigration and naturalization (INS) forms.  Our staff will help you with the complexities, challenges and stresses involved with the immigration and naturalization service.  There is a nominal fee for this service.  In addition, JFS offers a two-hour citizenship class twice a year to help prepare new immigrants for their citizenship test.
