volunteer opportunities at Jewish Family Services of Greenwich. Specific
volunteer opportunities depend on agency need and the volunteer’s interest and
time availability.
We provide training and ongoing support for all of our
volunteers.
Supermaketing for Seniors
A program where volunteer shoppers do weekly grocery shopping for homebound
seniors.
Designer’s
Exchange Plus Thrift Shop
JFS has opened a thrift shop located at 103 Mill Street in Greenwich (Byram).
The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday‚ from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are
always in need of volunteer to work at the shop.
Bikkur Cholim Program
This community-wide program provides Jewish
spiritual comfort. Volunteers will visit those who are sick in local hospitals‚
in nursing homes‚ and private residences.
Let’s Do Lunch
We are always looking for good cooks or great assistants to help cook and/or
serve lunch at our bi-monthly senior luncheons.
Free Taxi Service
An "as needed" service‚ volunteers help out by driving seniors around the
Greenwich area. Typical locations would be to and from a Monday discussion
Group at JFS offices‚ senior luncheons‚ or doctor appointments.
“Handyman
Can”
Service
Yard work or simple home repairs for area seniors. Adults or teens are needed
to be on call.
Snow Angels
Shoveling snow for seniors. A great family mitzvah activity. We need people to
be on call before the next snow arrives!
Refugee And
Acculturation Program
Assist us in finding jobs and/or housing for newly arrived refugees. These new
immigrants also need help with English tutoring and local driving.
