Ways to Get Involved

At JFS, volunteers and community partners play a vital role in enriching the lives of those we serve. From supporting older adults through our care programs and Bikur Cholim initiatives to assisting refugee families with apartment setups, ESL tutoring, job placement, youth mentorship, and more, there are meaningful ways to make a difference. Volunteers also help sustain our family farm stand by organizing and distributing fresh food, as well as collecting and delivering donations to JFS and schools hosting our friendly fridge program. Explore the opportunities below to find the perfect way to get involved.

Older Adult Services
Senior Services

Supermarketing for Seniors provides grocery shopping for home-bound Greenwich residents, who are disabled or over age 60. Since 1986, we have been providing this unique, non-denominational grocery shopping service with care and compassion.

Compassionate Companions provides Greenwich and Stamford seniors with escorted rides to and from doctors and medical appointments.  The volunteer accompanies the senior to the appointment in an Uber ride, paid for by JFS.

Refugee Resettlement
Refugee Resettlement

JFS of Greenwich needs volunteer assistance to provide a wide range of services to refugee families from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Haiti, Syria, Guatemala, and Ecuador, including apartment set-ups, collection drives, ESL tutoring and buddy program, youth support, and mentorship. JFS Greenwich also seeks local business owners and companies to provide work opportunities for our clients (refugees and immigrants) who need gainful employment to create long term stability for themselves and their families. All clients are legally authorized to work in the U.S.  Job options might include food services, laborer/landscaper, cleaning, salon worker, etc.

Bikur Cholim
Jewish Health and Healing

The Bikur Cholim Program operates onsite at Greenwich Hospital, and at six additional Greenwich facilities. Translated as “visiting the sick”, our staff and trained volunteers visit with hospital patients, Alzheimer’s patients, participants in adult day care, and residents of assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Special programming is provided on holidays to ensure that Jewish holiday traditions are available to this population. Participation in a 6-week training program is mandatory.

Help set-up and distribute food to families across all the JFS Greenwich programs via the Weekly Farm Stand held at JFS.  We also need drivers/volunteers to pick-up flash frozen meals and deliver to Greenwich & Stamford partner schools that participate in the Friendly Fridge program.
