Caleb Connor, LPC-A

At the JFS Bennett Center for Behavioral Health, Caleb Connor brings compassion, curiosity, and a deep commitment to helping others navigate life's challenges. As a full-time psychotherapist and counselor, Caleb works with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, supporting them through mental health concerns, life transitions, stressors, and personal growth.
Caleb earned his master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and currently practices as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in Connecticut. He is working under clinical supervision as he completes the experience requirements for full licensure. He has also passed the National Counseling Exam (NCE), making him eligible for designation as a National Certified Counselor upon completion of 3,000 post-graduate clinical hours.
For Caleb, the path to becoming a therapist was shaped by witnessing the life-changing impact that mental health professionals can have on individuals, relationships, and families.
"I was moved by the tangible improvements and lasting changes I witnessed in people's lives," Caleb says. "I knew I wanted the opportunity to provide that kind of support for others in a way that makes counseling more accessible, realistic, and genuine."
Although early in his professional counseling career, Caleb brings a strong foundation of experience to his role. Before earning his master's degree, he spent approximately a year providing direct clinical services to individuals and groups in therapeutic settings. Prior to that, he worked at Silver Hill Hospital, supporting individuals facing a variety of mental health challenges. He also spent two years as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and adolescents on the autism spectrum.
Today, Caleb's counseling approach is grounded in person-centered therapy, a humanistic framework that emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and client self-discovery.
"Person-centered therapy allows me to meet clients where they are," he explains. "Every individual is unique, so I adjust my approach based on their needs, experiences, and goals. At the core, I believe everyone has the potential and ability to create meaningful change in their lives."
One of the aspects Caleb values most about his work is the opportunity to build authentic therapeutic relationships and help clients feel seen, heard, and supported.
"Many clients share that they look forward to therapy because it is a space where they feel emotionally safe," he says. "It's incredibly rewarding to hear that someone is experiencing meaningful changes in their outlook, behavior, or daily functioning, and even more so when families notice those positive changes as well."
At this stage in his career, Caleb embraces the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and concerns rather than focusing on a specific specialty.
"I'm grateful to learn from and work with a diverse population," he says. "Each client brings a unique perspective and experience, and I learn something from every therapeutic relationship."
When asked about the guidance he finds most meaningful, Caleb highlights the importance of validation and understanding.
"Normalizing and validating people's experiences and emotional reactions can go such a long way," he says. "Many people don't feel heard or understood in their everyday lives. Creating space where they feel accepted and supported is incredibly important."
Outside of work, Caleb prioritizes self-care by maintaining a healthy balance between social connection and personal time. He enjoys exercising, spending time outdoors, listening to music, and connecting with friends and family.
A quote that currently inspires him comes from the television show Ted Lasso: "Be curious, not judgmental."
"It's a reminder to approach others—and new experiences—with openness, kindness, and a willingness to understand," Caleb says.
As Caleb continues to grow professionally, his commitment to empathy, authenticity, and helping others discover their own strengths remains at the heart of his work. Through every session, he is helping clients build resilience, find hope, and move toward meaningful change.
